Are you aware unique Hampshire was initially named North Virginia, and it used to be according to the jurisdiction of Massachusetts?
Early historians record that in 1623, in expert of an English land-grant, master John Mason, together with several others, delivered David Thomson, a Scotsman, and Edward and Thomas Hilton, fish-merchants of London, with many other people in two divisions to establish a fishing colony in what happens to be New Hampshire, within mouth associated with Piscataqua River.
One of these brilliant sections, under Thomson, established close to the river’s mouth at a location they known as bit Harbor or "Pannaway," now town of Rye, where they erected salt-drying seafood cabinets and a "factory" or material home. One other unit underneath the Hilton brothers establish their fishing phases on a neck of secure eight kilometers above, that they known as Northam, afterward named Dover.
